What Is a rape kit?
Formally known as a "sexual assault forensic exam," a rape kit is a collection of materials that preserves DNA evidence from your body, clothes, and other personal belongings after a sexual assault.

Why Should YOu get one?
If you want to take legal action, or think you will want to take legal action in the future, a rape kit is integral to help prove your case.​
What to expect
A trained Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, a SANE Nurse will provide the exam. They will walk you through the entire process, and you do not have to do anything that you do feel comfortable doing. They will likely take multiple swabs to collect DNA from different parts of your body.

- All sexual assault forensic exams are completely free of charge
- You do not have to report right away
- Try to avoid activities such as showering, using the restroom, changing clothes, combing hair, or any other bodily cleaning to preserve DNA
- Your health and safety are by far the MOST important thing
