Coping Skills During the Holidays/ Finals

Welcome back to the blog!

During this last stretch of the year, stress it at its peak. Projects and exams, difficulty in relationships, and preparing to go home to family are all relevant stressors right now. However, there are healthy ways to cope so your mental health remains intact.


We have compiled a list of some activities to help with coping and we hope you find them useful!


Coping Skills:

  • Stretch

  • Redirect your negative thoughts

  • Find the silver lining

  • Help someone else

  • Eat something nourishing

  • Ask for help or support

  • Brainstorm/problem solve

  • Create a plan

  • Contemplate about your values

  • Accept what you can and cannot control

  • Make a gratitude list

  • Tapping exercise

  • Watch a funny video

  • Write a letter

  • Focus on self-compassion

  • Name your emotions

  • Cry

  • Clean, organize

  • Go to the park

  • Compliment someone

  • Express your feelings to someone

  • Look through old photos

  • Paint your nails

  • Spend time with a pet

  • Do a relaxation exercise

  • Plan something fun to look forward to

  • Watch your favorite TV show

  • Play a board game

  • Take pictures

  • Move your body! (yoga, running, etc)

  • Set intentions for the day

  • Meditate, pray, contemplate

  • Light a candle!

  • Call a friend!!!!!!!

  • Positive affirmations

  • Spend time with someone positive

  • Sit in a hot tub, pool, or sauna

  • Read inspirational quotes

  • Read self-help articles and books

  • Write your positive traits down

  • Take care of your body

  • Think of your situation as a learning experience

  • Visit an animal shelter!

  • Get yourself a diffuser!

  • Go for a drive! Plan a roadtrip!

  • Sew or knit

  • Think of all the people you care about

  • Do a puzzle or wordsearch

  • Go out to eat
